POCO X8 Pro Max has debuted in India as phone launched on March 17, 2026. The POCO X8 Pro Max is priced at Rs 42,999 for the base 12GB + 256GB variant and Rs 46,999 for the 12GB + 512GB option. Sales begin on March 23 on Flipkart, and there is a Rs 3,000 bank discount available from SBI, ICICI, and HDFC, which brings the starting price down to Rs 39,999 effectively.
The POCO X8 Pro Max comes in three colours Black, White, and Blue. I have been using the White model. The back panel is made of fiberglass instead of glass, which POCO says makes it more durable. It does feel different from a typical glass back it is slightly textured and does not feel slippery in hand. The metal frame gives the phone a solid feel, and at 8.2mm thickness and 220g weight, it is not particularly heavy for a phone this size.
The front is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, and the phone carries IP69K ratings, which means it can handle dust, water immersion, and even high-pressure water jets. That is a good set of protection ratings for a phone at this price.
The POCO X8 Pro Max has 6.83-inch AMOLED panel dispaly with 1.5K resolution and 120Hz adaptive refresh rate is one of the better screens you will find at this price. The peak brightness is rated at 3,500 nits, which means outdoor visibility is not a problem. HDR10+ content looks good on it, and the colours are accurate without being over-saturated.
The MediaTek Dimensity 9500s is a relatively new chip, announced at the start of 2026, built on a 3nm process. It is a slightly reworked version of the Dimensity 9400 and is designed for phones in the upper mid-range and high-end value segment.

POCO claims an AnTuTu score of over 3,100,000 for the X8 Pro Max. In benchmark tests, the phone recorded a Geekbench 6 multi-core score of around 8,470 and single-core score of around 2,705. For reference, that puts it in the same performance range as some Snapdragon 8 Elite devices, though not quite at the top of that category.
What matters more than benchmark numbers is day-to-day use. In my time with the phone, app opening, multitasking between multiple apps, and navigating the interface on HyperOS 3 based on Android 16 all felt smooth. There were no obvious stutters or slowdowns. The phone comes with 12GB LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, which are fast memory standards that contribute to the snappy feel.
The 9,000mAh silicon-carbon battery is the headline feature of the X8 Pro Max. This is the second largest battery capacity in any commercially available smartphone right now, and it is the largest battery POCO has ever put in one of its phones. The phone also supports 27W reverse charging.Charging speed is 100W HyperCharge. POCO says the phone can reach 50% in 24 minutes from flat.
POCO X8 Pro Max camera has dual rear setup a 50MP Light Fusion 600 main camera with f/1.5 aperture and OIS, and an 8MP ultra-wide lens with a 123-degree field of view . The front selfie camera is 20MP with autofocus.
Video recording goes up to 4K at 60fps from the rear cameras. Camera modes include AI Night Mode, Zero-delay shutter capture, Motion Capture, and 4K Night video. The front camera records up to 1080p at 60fps.
The POCO X8 Pro Max has dual symmetrical speakers with Hi-Res Audio and Dolby Atmos support. The speakers are louder than most phones at this price and have a decent amount of balance between treble and bass. The 400% volume boost feature makes the speakers genuinely loud for outdoor use. For a phone positioned towards gaming and content consumption, the audio output is a positive point.
The phone runs HyperOS 3.0 based on Android 16 out of the box. POCO is offering four major OS upgrades and six years of security updates, which is competitive and gives the phone good long-term value. The software includes Google Gemini integration and the Circle to Search feature, which are useful AI tools for everyday tasks.
POCO X8 Pro Max, the battery and the display are the two things that leave the strongest impression. The 9,000mAh cell in an 8.2mm thin phone is genuinely useful and the display is bright and smooth. The Dimensity 9500s chip handles everything asked of it without any problems.
The camera system is adequate for everyday use but is not a strong point of the phone. And the absence of wireless charging is something buyers in this price range will notice.
POCO X8 Pro Max price in india At Rs 42,999 or Rs 39,999 with the bank discount offers a set of hardware that is hard to match for the price, particularly on battery and display.
